We use Java 1.8 as our development language of choice.
Why Java?
Mainly we have over 20 years software development experience with the Java.
As well as the vast functionality of the JDK there are a huge number of open source tools and languages that run on the JRE.
We like statically typed languages and the development productivity these afford with the excellent Intellij IDE
- We use Maven for builds as this integrates easily with our Continuous Integration tools
- We’ll probably moving to Kotlin soon…
